Senior Developer - Core Technology

Description

Join our dynamic Core Technology team as a Senior Developer, where you'll play a crucial role in building and enhancing the software that drives both our iSAM Funds (Asset Management)and iSAM Securities businesses.

You’ll operate at the intersection of technology and business, working directly with key stakeholders in Operations, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Client Services. Your insight and initiative will be critical in understanding and anticipating complex challenges across teams, and delivering scalable, strategic technology solutions that drive transformation and innovation.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll take full ownership of high-impact projects, providing architectural oversight and hands-on development in both Java and Python. You'll also mentor junior developers, collaborate with cross-functional leaders, and influence long-term technology strategy.

Required Skills:

• Proven expertise in Java development, including architectural design, code optimization, and unit testing.
• Strong understanding of financial systems, with the ability to quickly grasp business needs and align them with technical solutions.
• Ability to work autonomously on complex problems while also guiding and influencing others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A proactive and adaptable mindset with a continuous learning approach.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Python
• Hands-on experience working with relational databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with data science principles and methodologies, with experience applying them in real-world scenarios.
• Expertise in the following technologies: Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Maven, Guice, Numpy, Pandas
• Exposure to financial markets, either through formal education or professional experience
• An interest in and working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, automated testing, intelligent documentation), with an appreciation for how these tools can enhance developer productivity and business insight.
  
  This role falls under the FCA Senior Managers and Certification Regime. A strong commitment to conduct and compliance is expected.
