We are seeking an established Senior Developer to join our Newcastle-based development team. This role focuses on upgrading and maintaining our core billing and quoting systems. Experience with high-volume financial transaction systems and customer payments is preferred.
We are a tech company that consolidates household bills into a single fixed monthly payment, simplifying finances and reducing admin. Our team is collaborative, welcoming, and our office is located near popular pubs.
- Develop and maintain industry-leading products.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and shape product features.
- Address complex features, non-functional requirements, and resolve production issues.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of relevant commercial experience.
- Extensive experience with PHP, especially with large SaaS products.
- Experience with payment gateways like Stripe or GoCardless.
- Experience with payment/billing systems handling throughput of thousands of pounds.
- Proficiency in designing, creating, and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with high availability and reliable systems.
- Understanding of security, performance, and reliability considerations.
- Knowledge of modern development practices and lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development.
- Understanding of networking principles and HTTP.
- Relational database design, normalization, and SQL proficiency.
Preferred:
- Computer Science degree.
- Experience with Laravel, Vue.js, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with Worldpay, Braintree, Apple Pay, Google Pay.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS standards.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
- Experience with automated testing, code reviews, monitoring tools, and security principles.
Salary up to £60,000 with annual increases, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, employee discounts, learning benefits, volunteering days, health benefits, travel schemes, pension contributions, and social activities including sports and charity events.
