Job summary

Koto is seeking an experienced designer based in or able to work in London to craft world-class brand identities. You will lead idea sessions, translate strategy into design, and collaborate with a senior team to deliver exceptional work for influential brands.

You will shape symbolism, typography, colour, illustration and iconography, while mentoring junior designers and presenting to clients. A strong preference for in-person collaboration with opportunities for international travel.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to craft world-class brand identities across symbolism, typography, colour, illustration and art-direction.
• Experience running idea sessions and presenting work eloquently to clients.
• Willingness to work in our London studio with openness to travel globally.

Responsibilities

• Generate ideas and articulate them visually and verbally; lead creative sessions to raise the quality of thought.
• Design and brief branding elements: symbolism, typography, colour, illustration, iconography and art-direction; lead others.
• Collaborate closely with the team; mentor juniors and follow senior direction.
• Construct client presentations and present work eloquently.
• Translate immersion and strategic phases into design execution.
• Demonstrate deep branding knowledge and contribute to high-profile client work.
• Own the role, act on feedback, and manage time effectively.
• Willing to work in person in the London studio and travel globally.
• Maintain time estimates for design tasks and manage own calendar.
• Understand and apply tools: Figma, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Pitch.

You are an experienced designer, your days are spent relentlessly authoring ideas, designing identities and inspiring an exceptional quality of work in the team around you.

Your Responsibilities

1. You generate excellent ideas and know how to articulate them expertly both visually and verbally. You run creative catch-ups and idea generating sessions to actively increase the quality of thought in your team.
2. You spend a significant amount of time designing, have a strong understanding of, and can create briefs for: symbolism, typography, colour, illustration, iconography and art-direction. You can compose all of these components into complete world-class brand identities, inspire and lead others to the same result, and practically support their design where needed.
3. You collaborate intimately with the team around you, learning from them and supporting junior staff. You are able to follow direction from the senior team.
4. You can construct client presentations and can present work eloquently.
5. You assist with and can translate our immersion and strategic phases of work into design execution.
6. You demonstrate a deep knowledge of branding and the creative practitioners within it. You consistently deliver work for the most impactful companies of today and the founders defining tomorrow.
7. You demonstrate ownership of your role and can both take and action feedback from your manager to progress within it and beyond.
8. You have a strong awareness of the time required to complete design tasks. You are able to successfully manage your own time, calendar and meetings.
9. You have a willingness to work in person in our London studio and are open to travel globally, from Stuttgart to San Francisco.
10.
