Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London seeks an experienced Design Manager for its Oxford office to lead the design process across refurbishment and new build schemes around Oxford. You will manage design development, coordinate consultants, and ensure buildability through preconstruction to delivery, liaising with clients and stakeholders throughout.

The role involves high-end refurbishment contexts, engagement with authorities, and proactive value engineering to meet programme and budget requirements.

Qualifications

• Engineering/Construction delivery or Architectural background.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proven track record in Design Coordination/Design Management.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design development for projects.
• Appointment and management of consultant design team.
• Chair regular design team meetings.
• Regular liaison with clients and stakeholders.
• Engagement with and managing specialist sub-contractor design teams.
• Agreement of information required schedule; ensuring key dates are achieved.
• Dealing with local authorities to achieve planning permissions / discharge planning conditions.
• Review of construction design information for buildability and compliance.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering where appropriate.
• Proactive issue resolution.
• Oversee timely delivery of detailed design information for procurement and construction.
