The Opportunity:
Laing O'Rourke has an opportunity for an Electrically biased Senior Design Manager to join the team supporting our Life Sciences and Healthcare portfolio across the country. The role can be based from any of our Laing O'Rourke offices including Dartford, Sale, Leeds, Newcastle, St Neots, Glasgow, and the factory in Worksop.
A Laing O'Rourke Senior Design Manager leads the delivery of effective design across multiple projects or a large-scale project. They oversee the pre-construction phase design processes, liaising with clients, design teams, in-house bid teams, and operations teams. On live projects, they implement processes that enable design challenges and risk reduction within a collaborative team framework.
The Senior Design Manager is a senior member of the Design Job Family and Technical Function, ensuring technical excellence, assurance, and performance across all projects, from pre-project engagement to detailed delivery. All designers are part of our Engineering Enterprise, aiming to maximize design potential and increase project certainty.
Where will you be based?
Laing O'Rourke operates a flexible working policy. Staff are generally based at their regular place of work, whether on a project site or in offices of clients, delivery partners, or suppliers. Some remote working is possible by agreement, depending on project requirements.
