Job summary

RED, part of Tractebel, seeks a Principal Design Manager to oversee design management across London, Bicester or Newcastle offices. You will lead client relationships, manage cross‑discipline teams, and drive project delivery with a strong emphasis on quality and compliance.

The role requires Chartered/CEng or ChPP status, extensive senior experience, and the ability to travel internationally. Hybrid working is offered along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• BEng in an engineering discipline is required.
• Professional memberships (MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE) are required.
• Chartered status (CEng or ChPP) is preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience at senior design/management level.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high quality client relationships and lead delivery while ensuring integrity and professional standards.
• Ensure QA/compliance and project performance in line with policy and contract scope.
• Mentor and lead the project team; support delivery, performance and business development.
• Contribute to commercial and business planning; manage sub-consultant contracts and invoices.
• Chair meetings and manage progress tracking and reporting.
