Job summary

Knights Brown is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead the development, management and assurance of engineering solutions for challenging civil, marine, coastal and infrastructure projects. You will shape projects from tender through delivery, ensuring safe, buildable and sustainable designs that deliver best value for clients and teams.

You will provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle, drive value engineering, and mentor graduates and junior engineers while coordinating

• Experience in marine, coastal, river and civil projects.
• Practical site experience and buildable solutions.
• Strong communication and leadership for multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process from development to construction delivery.
• Provide technical leadership on design, build projects and complex temporary works.
• Support bid teams with design strategy and technical submissions.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams for integrated, cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and statutory obligations.
• Lead design risk management and engineering assurance activities.
• Drive value engineering for affordability, performance and sustainability.
• Champion CDM compliance and design-related health and safety risk management.
• Oversee external consultants and partners to ensure high-quality outputs.
• Support operations during project delivery with technical problem-solving.
• Promote right-first-time design quality and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to Knights Brown sustainability objectives and goals.
• Mentor graduates and junior staff.
