Job summary

First Base in Stroud is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to translate customer specifications into robust mechanical designs. You will produce 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, perform calculations and FEA, and ensure designs meet API, ISO, PED and ASME standards.

You will mentor junior engineers and represent the engineering function at meetings while contributing to continuous improvement and new product introduction.

Qualifications

• Degree or recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong 3D CAD design experience.
• Experience designing high-pressure equipment.
• Knowledge of API, ISO, PED and ASME design standards.
• Experience carrying out engineering calculations and FEA.
• Understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
• Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• Experience using MRP systems and engineering databases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
