Position: Senior Design Manager

BAM Construction is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to join their team in the Scotland Region, based in the Stepps office in Glasgow.

Working 42.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. You will report directly to the Regional Design Manager and be involved in all aspects of pre-construction and construction phases of projects within the region, mainly in the central belt of Scotland.

Your responsibilities

• Manage the design of live projects under construction.
• Participate in the tender process.
• Manage design aspects of successful tenders from preferred bidder stage to financial close.
• Ensure technical compliance, quality, and appropriateness of solutions.
• Minimize design contingency spend and manage design risk across all stages.
• Incorporate lessons learned into design solutions.

Candidate profile

• Proven experience managing all design aspects from tender to completion, working effectively within bid and construction teams.
• Good knowledge of design, construction management, standards, regulations, and legislation.
• Ability to lead a team with clear decision-making skills and manage all design information successfully.
• Strong prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across pre-construction and construction phases.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Good time management and commitment to deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Effective internal and external communication skills.
• Understanding of current regulations and requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital information portals such as CDE.
