SENIOR DESIGN MANAGER - NEWBURY (TIER 1 OPPORTUNITY!)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our prestigious tier 1 client working on high-profile and technically complex projects across multiple sectors.

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will provide leadership for design management resources on major projects or a cluster of projects within a region or product stream, from pre-qualification to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review current project designs and conduct detailed risk and opportunity assessments to mitigate risks, enhance buildability, and add value before construction.
  • Lead the production and management of realistic design programs and information schedules in collaboration with the project team, Lead Designer, and Consultants, to meet design, procurement, and construction needs.
  • Coordinate with Commercial and Operations Teams to ensure design deliverables are complete, buildable, and within budget, participating in technical workshops and value management exercises.
  • Manage contractor proposals, ensuring they are comprehensive, reviewed, and updated after negotiations.
  • Oversee on-site design management, implementing procedures with site-based resources.
  • Ensure adherence to contractor proposals and maintain strong relationships with clients and design organizations.
Qualifications:
  • MCIOB membership
  • Chartered Architect or Engineer
  • Advanced design skills
  • Deep knowledge of contracts, construction materials, methods, and technologies
  • Strong understanding of planning, procurement, and management systems
  • Expertise in risk management, lifecycle costing, and value creation
  • Knowledge of Fire Safety Systems and temporary works
