Role: Senior Design Manager
Location: London
Rate: £400 - £450 per day

The Company
This Senior Design Manager’s role is with one of the UK’s major main contractors. They have established themselves as being a leading main contractor in the commercial, residential, public, and interiors sectors. They work on a diverse range of both fit-out and refurbishment schemes ranging in value from £10m – £100million.

This current position is for a Senior Design Manager to lead a £30m commercial CAT B fit-out scheme in central London.

The Role:

1. Leads the delivery of effective design across the project.
2. Provide a focus for, and lead the pre-construction phase design processes, liaising with the client, the design team, in-house bid team, and the operations team.
3. On live projects, implement and lead the processes that enable the design to be challenged and interrogated within a collaborative team framework to enable risks to be reduced.
4. Ensure technical excellence, assurance, and performance across all projects and opportunities from pre-project, early engagement, and work winning through to detailed delivery.
5. Providing a focus for and leading the pre-construction phase briefing and design processes.
6. Leading design management procedures, providing a functional link between the commercial and construction teams and the designers throughout the project life.
7. Implementing the processes that enable the design to be challenged and interrogated within a collaborative team framework.
8. Implementing agreed processes for the production, control, and distribution of design information at different project stages.
9. Ensuring regular progress reporting of the design.
10. Ensuring design information is thoroughly reviewed: for buildability, safety and maintainability, completeness & compliance, and technical suitability before use.
11. Promoting innovation in design management, methodology, processes, and practices.
