A little bit about your role:

• Producing and checking engineering deliverables and developing engineering solutions including design calculations, reports, presentations, and drawings related to underground structures such as tunnels and shafts.
• Working as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and modellers from conceptual design through detailed design and construction.
• Carrying out engineering analysis and design using simple and numerical models based on first principles or codified processes.
• Developing and maintaining good relationships with clients.
• Conducting ad-hoc engineering research and development tasks to support innovative solutions.
• Assisting project managers in project delivery, including managing time, budget, and quality control.
• Occasional travel and site work in the UK and overseas, depending on project needs.
• Supporting business development activities, including preparing technical proposals.
• Providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching to team members.
• Collaborating with colleagues to achieve project goals.
• Promoting a safety-first attitude aligned with health and safety culture.

Reporting into the Mining Business structure, the Senior Design Engineer's primary focus includes project delivery, technical expertise, business development, client relationship management, and mentoring within the underground structures team, mainly in mining but also potentially in other sectors like infrastructure.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Post-graduation engineering experience.
• Understanding of structural principles and construction materials.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manipulate CAD files.
• Experience with design codes and practices.
• Decision-making skills and an innovative, analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
