Job Description

My Client is recruiting for a Senior / Design Engineer - Mechanical in the Water Sector. Location: Peterborough office with hybrid working available. You will report directly to the Principal Engineer and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts.

You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract. Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Produce design layouts that are cost-effective, meet specifications, and can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
  2. Ensure standard practices are utilized wherever possible.
  3. Provide estimates and feedback for proposals department.
  4. Follow procedures and processes to ensure the department's ongoing development.
  5. Monitor and review procedures and processes.
  6. Write, update, and monitor efficient procedures to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  7. Coordinate designs with all other disciplines internal and external to the company to ensure integrated design processes.
  8. Work within a culture focused on customer satisfaction, recognizing that customers include end users and internal departments.
  9. Ensure designs consider environmental issues.
  10. Ensure all health and safety requirements are incorporated into the design.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive practical mechanical design experience in a similar environment.
  • Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
  • Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
  • Flexible mindset capable of managing large amounts of data.
  • Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently, and convincingly.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
