Job summary

iO Associates seek a Senior Design Engineer for their Aberdeen team to shape and qualify complex mechanical equipment from concept through to manufacturing. You will drive engineering governance, create detailed drawings, and coordinate cross-functional activities across design, testing and qualification domains.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 10+ years in design engineering, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and experience with engineering qualification processes, plus

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a design engineering role within a relevant engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong CAD skills with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Experience producing engineering calculations and technical documentation.
• Understanding of engineering qualification and testing processes.
• Knowledge of API standards and associated manufacturing requirements.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain engineering design standards, procedures and processes.
• Produce and review detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Create assembly, disassembly and maintenance procedures.
• Generate engineering test plans, requests and technical reports.
• Lead design reviews and approval activities.
• Support new product development and equipment qualification programmes.
• Oversee prototype manufacturing, assembly and testing activities.
• Analyse customer specifications and technical requirements to ensure compliance.
• Produce manufacturing drawings in line with applicable industry standards.
• Maintain drawing control and document integrity within engineering systems.
• Define design acceptance criteria based on product and customer requirements.
• Liaise with management and cross-functional teams on design and development projects.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their Aberdeen-based team. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 10 years experience in a design engineering role within a relevant engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar platforms
• Understanding of engineering qualification and testing processes
• Knowledge of industry specifications and standards, including API standards and associated manufacturing requirements
• Experience producing engineering calculations and technical documentation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
• Fluent English, both written and spoken
