Job summary

Engage Talent Partners are seeking a Design Engineer for their Aberdeen office. The role involves taking conceptual designs through drawings, manufacturing and testing, and working within an established design team.

The ideal candidate will hold a mechanical engineering degree and have design engineering experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor and Ansys. Knowledge of oil and gas product designs and AX is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in a design engineering environment.
• Knowledge of oil and gas related product designs.
• Competent in AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys or other FEA packages.
• Motivated, strong team player, able to manage busy workloads.
• Knowledge of Microsoft AX and related tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from managers and senior engineers.
• Carry out design tasks and activities.
• Support graduate and entry level engineers.
• Check drawings produced within the department.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation plans with Team Leader.
• Review drawings for completeness and standards compliance.
• Present technical proposals and designs at concept and detailed reviews.
• Provide design support for manufacturing, assembly and testing.
• Utilise design tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor and MathCad.
• Carry out onshore and offshore site surveys.

Engage Talent Partners are pleased to be working with a well-established oil and gas and renewables company to source a Design Engineer for their Aberdeen office.

This role will sit within the existing design team, taking conceptual designs through drawings, manufacturing and testing. The company has a global reach and operates across the renewables and oil and gas sectors.

Main Responsibilities:

• Work with and take direction from managers and senior engineers.
• Takeresponsibility for design related tasks and activities.
• Support graduate and entry level engineers.
• Checking of drawings produced within the department.
• Risk identification and, if necessary, the development ofmitigation plans inreview with Team Leader.
• Review drawings ensuring completenessand that company standards are met.
• Presenting technical proposals & design presentationat concept and detailed design reviews.
• Provide design support and guidance for the manufacturing, assembly & test.
• Efficient use of design tools including AutoCAD, Inventor, MathCad etc.
• Carry out onshoreand offshore site surveys.

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent, have experience in a design engineering environment and have knowledge of oil and gas related product designs. They will be competent in the use of AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys or other FEA packages.They will also be highly motivated, a strong team player, and have the ability to manage busy workloads. Knowledge of Microsoft AX and experience with relevant tool and equipment design will be advantageous though not essential.
