Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to develop civil/structural solutions for transmission projects in Cambuslang. You will lead design work, ensure safety and compliance, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

The role requires a degree or HND in Civil/Structural Engineering, chartered status or progression, and experience with earthworks, drainage and BIM tools.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Civil/Structural Engineering with relevant experience.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or working towards membership.
• Experience delivering civil designs for transmission or distribution projects.
• Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, foundations, access roads, structures and buildings.
• Understanding of sustainability principles, carbon reduction and BIM methodologies.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD Pro and TEDDS.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering civil and structural engineering solutions across the transmission network. Working on major infrastructure projects, you will provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable engineering outcomes.

What You'll Bring

• Degree or HND in Civil, Structural or a related Engineering discipline, with relevant industry experience.

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or actively working towards professional accreditation.

• Experience delivering civil engineering designs for transmission or distribution network projects.

• Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, foundations, access roads, structures and industrial buildings.

• Understanding of sustainability principles, carbon reduction and BIM methodologies.

• Experience using industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD Pro and TEDDS.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Knowledge of CDM regulations and health and safety requirements within engineering design.

• Experience working to utility, energy or infrastructure industry standards.

Minimum Criteria

• Degree or diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering with relevant experience.

• Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status or working towards professional membership.

• Full UK driving licence.

• Flexibility to travel and undertake occasional work away from home.

• Ability to adapt working hours to meet project and business requirements.
