Job summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the engineering team in Scarborough, United Kingdom. The role focuses on the design and development of mechanical systems from concept to detailed design and manufacture.

You will own the designs and take responsibility for performance and robustness. This high‑level role requires proven experience in designing gearboxes or winches, with a strong background in complex mechanical assemblies and the ability to produce detailed 3D models

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience designing gearboxes or winches.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop gearboxes, winches and related mechanical systems.
• Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design mechanical components including gears, shafts, housings, cases and assemblies.
• Develop and improve existing mechanical designs.
• Carry out engineering calculations and basic analysis.
• Produce BOMs, drawings and technical documentation.
• Consider manufacturing, tolerances, materials and assembly throughout the design process.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's engineering team in Scarborough. You will be involved in the design and development of mechanical systems from initial concept through to detailed design and manufacture. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a technically challenging role where you can take ownership of your designs.

This is a high-level mechanical design position for an engineer with proven experience designing gearboxes or winches and a strong background in complex mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop gearboxes, winches and associated mechanical systems
• Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks
• Design mechanical components including gears, shafts, housings, cases and assemblies
• Develop and improve existing mechanical designs
• Carry out engineering calculations and basic analysis
• Produce BOMs, drawings and technical documentation
• Consider manufacturing, tolerances, materials and assembly throughout the design process

Essential

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven professional experience designing either gearboxes or winches

Important Information

This is a fully site-based position in Scarborough. You must be willing and able to travel to the site and work in person Monday-Friday.
