Job summary

Timely Recruit Ltd in London is seeking a Senior Electricity Design Engineer to act as the technical authority for 132kV design packages, reviewing designs from developers and ICPs and creating network connections.

You will approve as-built submissions, resolve snags at energisation, and work with DNO planning teams to drive projects through the stage-gate process. A degree or equivalent is required, with 5+ years in electrical distribution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical distribution engineering.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent; chartership not required.
• Distribution network design experience up to 132kV.
• Ability to review, interpret and approve designs by external parties.
• Practical knowledge of constructing and operating distribution networks.

Senior Electricity Design Engineer – Electricity Distribution (IDNO)

Location: London, hybrid working

Salary: Up to £90,000

The Opportunity

EV charging hubs, grid-scale battery storage, data centres, ports – every one needs a connection, and someone senior enough to approve the design behind it.

Our client is an Independent Distribution Network Operator that designs, owns and operates EHV, HV and LV networks.

As Senior Electricity Design Engineer you will be the technical authority on designs coming in for adoption: reviewing and approving packages up to 132kV from developers and ICPs – electrical, protection and civils – and creating network designs and Points of Connection yourself.

Your name is on what gets adopted onto the network.

The Role

• Review, interrogate and approve design packages up to 132kV – electrical, protection and civils – submitted by developers and ICPs.
• Create network designs and Points of Connection to company and industry standards.
• Approve as-built submissions and resolve snags and construction changes at energisation.
• Build technical and policy links with DNO planning and design teams.
• Drive projects through the stage and gate process.

What You Will Need

• 5+ years in electrical distribution engineering.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent – chartership is not required.
• Distribution network design experience up to 132kV.
• The judgement to review, interpret and approve designs created by external parties.
• Practical knowledge of constructing and operating distribution networks.

Desirable: 275kV/400kV transmission design, IDNO/ICP/DNO adoption background, or EV, battery storage and data centre connections.
