Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our MSES team on major UK infrastructure projects nationwide. You will contribute to the design and checking of temporary works from concept through construction, while developing technical and project management skills.

You will report to a Team Lead and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, focusing on safety, quality and delivering value across schemes with opportunity for progression.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Actively working towards Chartership (ICE or IStructE).
• Proven experience in the design of temporary works within civil engineering or construction projects.
• Knowledge of structural and/or geotechnical analysis software.
• Ideally experienced in geotechnically-focused temporary works, such as load‑bearing piles, earth retaining structures, slope stability, and dewatering systems.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage projects and stakeholders effectively.
• An initiative‑taking, ambitious mindset with a desire to learn and progress.

Responsibilities

• Support the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Take ownership of moderately sized projects, managing outputs and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate closely within the MSES team, sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement.
• Apply a strong focus on quality, safety, and ‘right first time’ delivery principles.

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Senior Design Engineer to join our MSES team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of major construction and infrastructure schemes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to develop both their technical expertise and project management skills within a growing centre of excellence.

Reporting to a Team Lead, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions, with a particular focus on temporary works design. The role offers excellent scope for progression and increased responsibility within a dynamic and supportive environment.
