Senior Design Engineer
Location: Northern Ireland
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £45K-£55K

MCS Group is pleased to be working with a leading engineering business within the recycling and materials handling industry is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead product development projects from concept through to commissioning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of design projects, support continuous improvement, and manage a small team within a progressive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of engineering equipment and solutions.
• Produce detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Investigate and resolve mechanical issues and identify design improvements.
• Liaise with Sales and Aftermarket teams to implement customer-driven enhancements.
• Evaluate new materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
• Manage, support, and develop Engineers and Junior Engineers.
• Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and customer specifications.

Essential Criteria:

• Degree in Design Engineering or related discipline.
• Recent experience in a similar role, ideally within the recycling or materials handling sector.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (Pro-Engineer / Creo preferred); knowledge of 2D AutoCAD is advantageous.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrable experience in people management and team development.
