Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our dental laboratories for an enthusiastic Senior Prosthetics Dental Technician (B6) to support our team with Prosthodontic dental technology at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester. Applications are invited from dental technicians who are fully registered with the GDC and hold recognised academic qualification(s) plus relevant prosthetics experience. We encourage applications from Dental Technicians whether your experience and background is based in a commercial dental laboratory or NHS hospital setting. We are seeking an innovative, talented and self-motivated individual to join our extended, multi-disciplinary dental team. The successful candidate will have good knowledge and practical experience in prosthetic dental technology processes and related materials, producing complex and simple fixed and removable prosthetic appliances and prosthesis.

We utilise both analogue and digital production processes across all laboratory departments and we currently have multiple CAD systems that are supported by onsite 3D printing and milling CAM systems.

Main duties of the job
  • Construction of a wide range of mainly prosthodontic/prosthetic restorations/appliances which will be advanced and complex using both analogue and CADCAM processes.
  • Maintain and integrate new and existing workflows and equipment.
  • Develop skills in highly specialised work which may be innovative.
  • Construction of a variety of restorations to support the restorative services - training will be provided in house as required.
  • Must have sufficient post-qualification dental technology experience to be able to work independently and take responsibility towards furthering the training and mentoring of other staff within the service.
  • Work effectively as part of a team demonstrating attention to detail, good organisational skills and compliance with laboratory regulations and protocols, deputising for the Lead Prosthetic Technician.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.
