Job description

The Role

A member of the UK Operations team, reporting to the Delegated Underwriting Manager, you will provide assurance to Canopius that all delegated underwriting activities are being correctly underwritten, registered, processed, and managed in accordance with the agreed Delegated Underwriting policies and internal standards. The primary aim of the Delegated Authority Management function is to establish effective governance, frameworks, and controls over the Delegated Authority Portfolio to mitigate risks.

This is a 9-month Fixed Term Contract role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough due diligence, prepare, and submit new applications to Lloyd’s, including UK, EEA, and International Coverholders, Class of Business, Regional extensions, Relationships, and Branch applications.
  • Perform technical risk assessments of new and existing Coverholders to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Assist underwriting teams with delegated authority processes, including technical advice and Coverholder approvals.
  • Review pre- and post-bind documents for lead and follow binders, master policies, consortiums, and line slips to ensure compliance with Canopius procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and collaborate with stakeholders to develop compliant solutions.
  • Prepare and present regular internal reporting packs.
  • Support the Delegated Underwriting Manager and Head of Delegated Authority in managing delegated authority activities.
  • Help manage offshore team workflow, respond to queries, and oversee quality control.
  • Represent the Delegated Underwriting Manager at meetings and in workload management.
  • Participate in projects to improve delegated underwriting processes and systems testing.
  • Utilize Lloyd’s registration and compliance systems, including Atlas and DCOM.
  • Conduct peer reviews of contract checks as appropriate.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of delegated underwriting authority practices, preferably within Lloyd’s.
  • Strong understanding of insurance industry standards and regulatory requirements for Coverholder Management.
  • Experience with Lloyd’s Coverholder onboarding processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
