2025 is a defining year for us, and we’re looking for senior tech talent with the desire to play a meaningful role in shaping what comes next. With the backing of Keensight Capital, we’re entering a new era of global growth—scaling fast and building with intent. James Mackay, our CEO is bringing a clear, progressive vision to the business, rooted in deep industry insight that inspires innovation and excellence. Our strengthened leadership team brings deep expertise in technology, commercial growth, and high-impact scalability.

We’re building a world-class technology function grounded in modern engineering practices, continuous delivery and leveraging AI innovation, coupled with a game-changing product roadmap.

How we work matters just as much as what we’re building. We’re creating an environment where high-performing people can do their best work—backed by flexibility, trust, and a culture that values clarity, collaboration, and mutual respect. You’ll have the autonomy to lead, the support to grow, and the space to bring your ideas of “what good looks like” to life. If you want to do the most impactful work of your career, inspire results that really matter, alongside a team that values communication, collaboration, and progress, we’d love to hear from you!

Why We Are Hiring:

As our platform rapidly scales and our customer base grows, we’re investing in the performance, reliability, and scalability of our data infrastructure. We’re looking for a Senior SQL DBA who’s passionate about performance tuning, data architecture, and cloud-based systems—someone who thrives in a high-growth SaaS environment where speed, uptime, and data quality are paramount.

This is a critical role where you'll directly impact the experience of thousands of users by ensuring our Azure SQL and Microsoft Fabric-based data lake environments are running at peak efficiency.

You’ll join a highly collaborative team, working at the intersection of engineering, DevOps, and data to optimise the core systems powering our SaaS product.

We’re looking for someone who understands database internals and query optimisation, as well as sees the bigger picture: how data performance fuels customer satisfaction, product analytics, and business growth.

If you enjoy getting into the weeds of execution plans one day and helping shape cloud data strategy the next, this is the role for you.

What we’re looking for:

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Azure SQL Databases across a multi-tenant, cross-region SaaS platform through secure configuration, proactive monitoring, and high-availability design.
  • Design and implement scalable, automated backup and disaster recovery strategies that meet defined RPO/RTO objectives in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Proactively tune and optimise database queries, indexes, and stored procedures to ensure consistently high performance for large-scale transactional workloads.
  • Implement and enforce role-based access control (RBAC) and multi-tenant data isolation policies to comply with data governance and compliance requirements.
  • Spearhead database observability efforts by instrumenting telemetry and diagnostics to provide insights into query performance, blocking, deadlocks, resource contention, and availability.
  • Lead database incident response by performing root cause analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and documenting post-mortems to drive continuous improvement and prevention.
  • Establish governance processes that manage schema evolution through impact assessment, backward compatibility, versioned documentation, and rollback strategies to ensure safe, controlled releases across multiple environments.
  • Define and implement data lifecycle policies, including retention, purging, and archival strategies aligned with legal and operational requirements.
  • Partner with software engineers and product managers to design data models and platform capabilities that align with product requirements, enable new features, and scale with user and workload growth
  • Mentor engineering teams on SQL best practices, architectural standards, efficient data modelling, and proper use of data access patterns.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and governance of Azure Fabric Lakehouse to support secure, scalable analytics for internal and customer use.
  • Support build of ELT pipelines that deliver operational and usage data to analytics platforms, enabling consistent, high-quality business intelligence.

Requirements:

  • Proven background as a SQL DBA / Database Engineer with experience in high-performance databases.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of query execution plans, indexing, partitioning, and caching.
  • Experience in database monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Query Store, Redgate, New Relic).
  • Proven knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and database security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud-based database environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
  • Exposure of working with MS Fabric, data lakes, and cloud-based database architectures.
  • Familiarity with ETL pipelines and data warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex performance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex database issues to non-DBA stakeholders.
