Job description

About Faculty

At Faculty, we transform organisational performance through safe, impactful, and human-centric AI.

With a decade of experience, we provide over 300 global customers with software, bespoke AI consultancy, and Fellows from our award-winning Fellowship programme.

Our expert team brings together leaders from across government, academia, and global tech giants to solve the biggest challenges in applied AI.

Should you join us, you'll have the chance to work with, and learn from, some of the brilliant minds who are bringing Frontier AI to the frontlines of the world.

We're always on the lookout for talented individuals whose principles and interests align with our own. While we don't have a specific vacancy open at the moment, by registering your interest for the Senior Data Scientist Talent Pool, you'll be among the first to hear about job openings in our Frontier Team that align with your experience when they go live.

What you'll be doing:

As a Senior Data Scientist within Frontier, you will lead the data science work on project teams configuring our product Frontier for our customers. Each deployment of Frontier requires a computational twin, essentially an AI-powered digital twin, to be built. It is primarily the responsibility of our data scientists to design and build these computational twins.

While familiarizing yourself with Frontier's development interfaces is part of the role, the main focus is on understanding the core customer problem to ensure the technical solution drives value. Technical activities include tasks common to all data science work such as exploratory data analysis (EDA), model building, and evaluation.

Additional activities include:

  • Leading a cross-functional delivery team, working closely with engineers, designers, and commercial roles to deliver value to customers, and being responsible for successful delivery.
  • Helping our commercial team build strong client relationships and shaping project directions.
  • Contributing to the development of other data scientists through activity management and potentially line management.

Who we're looking for:

  • Senior experience in data science or a quantitative academic field.
  • Strong Python programming skills demonstrated through previous work.
  • Proficiency with data science libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn) and familiarity with deep-learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • High mathematical competence and proficiency in statistics.
  • Solid understanding of data science techniques such as supervised/unsupervised learning, cross-validation, Bayesian inference, time-series analysis, NLP, SQL, and API development. Ability to develop new algorithms is a fundamental skill.
  • Leadership mindset focused on team growth, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Appreciation for applying the scientific method to business problems, converting them into mathematical frameworks, and evaluating model performance and impact.
  • Some commercial experience, especially client-facing or project management, with excellent communication skills and business awareness.
  • Experience leading a team of data scientists, managing project plans, assessing technical feasibility, and estimating delivery timelines.
  • A product mindset, understanding user needs, and how Frontier delivers value.

What we can offer you:

The Faculty team is diverse, driven by deep intellectual curiosity, and committed to collective goals. You'll be surrounded by brilliant minds in various roles, each contributing unique perspectives, providing continuous learning opportunities.
