Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics for oil & gas operations. You will work remotely on datasets spanning seismic, drilling, production, and finance to build predictive models and optimize performance globally.

You will leverage Python/R, ML frameworks, and big data tools, collaborating with geoscientists and engineers to deliver actionable insights and scalable solutions. A strong publication or industry experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with energy sector experience.
• Proficiency in Python or R and data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong SQL experience and large dataset handling; familiarity with Spark/Hadoop.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical models and ML algorithms for exploration, production, and operations.
• Clean, process, and analyze large, diverse datasets across seismic, drilling, production, and financial streams.
• Build predictive models for equipment failure, production optimization, reservoir performance, and market trends.
• Design and conduct experiments (A/B tests) to validate hypotheses and measure impact.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and analysts to translate needs into data science projects.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders using visuals and reports.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to best practices.
