Job summary

GoCardless is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to advance fraud prevention models that operate in real time across our global payment network. You will work at the intersection of ML, graph-based detection and behavioural modelling, building production-ready systems on GCP Vertex AI using Python, SQL and BigQuery.

You will collaborate with Engineers, Fraud Analysts and Product Managers to shape the technical roadmap and expand into new markets, while mentoring teammates and ensuring high-quality

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent depth through experience.
• Hands-on modelling with deep learning, graph-based methods or sequence models.
• Experience deploying models in production with measurable value.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the full model lifecycle from discovery to production and monitoring.
• Design real-time ML systems to reduce false positives and protect users.
• Maintain a robust feedback loop to adapt models as patterns evolve.
• Help shape the technical direction of fraud prevention ML across GoCardless.
• Mentor teammates and promote high-quality, well-reviewed code.
