Job summary

Sainsbury's is seeking a Senior Data Scientist - Technical Specialist to lead complex data science initiatives across personalised customer decisioning and offers. The role sits in Customer Data Science, part of the Data Science Hub, with hybrid working from London or home-based arrangements.

Qualifications

Extensive Data Science background.
Production-grade data systems experience.
Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
Advanced statistical modelling and ML including recommendations.
Proficient Python and SQL.
Experience with CI/CD and cloud processing.
Mentoring others in data science.

Responsibilities

Solve hard problems in customer understanding, personalisation and decisioning.
Advance techniques across the team (uplift modelling, optimisation, causal inference, recommendations, real-time decisioning).
Define and embed best practices across modelling, experimentation, deployment and model lifecycle management.
Drive consistency in codebases, version control, testing and reproducibility.
Collaborate with Platform and ML Engineering teams to shape end-to-end architectures.
Coach through doing and mentor others.
