Job summary

SBS is seeking a Lead/Principal Data Scientist in the UK to shape and deliver advanced data science solutions across products and client engagements. This senior role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership in a hybrid London-based arrangement.

You will develop scalable AI/ML models, guide best practices, and mentor teams while partnering with Product and Engineering to embed AI capabilities and drive business value from data.

Qualifications

• MSc or higher in AI/CS/Data Science or closely related field.
• Strong grounding in ML, Generative AI, Agentic AI, XAI, and type-2 fuzzy logic.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of advanced analytics, ML, and AI solutions across SBS platforms and client projects.
• Set best practices and standards for data science across the organization.
• Mentor and guide junior and senior data scientists to build a high-performance team.
• Develop and deploy scalable ML models for fraud detection, credit risk, segmentation, forecasting, and optimization.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Architecture to embed AI capabilities.
• Engage with clients to translate business challenges into data science solutions and present insights.
