Overview

Senior Data Scientist | Belfast | 53,000 | Contract

We’re seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead high-impact analytical projects shaping the future of emergency and urgent care services in Northern Ireland. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining advanced modelling, forecasting, and machine learning with clear, evidence-based insights that directly influence strategic decision-making.

What you'll do
  • Build and deliver advanced statistical, predictive, and simulation models.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Lead projects, manage analysts, and set technical standards across the team.
  • Develop innovative forecasting and planning systems to support service transformation.
  • Collaborate with academic, clinical, and operational partners to validate methodologies and drive continuous improvement.
What we’re looking for
  • Strong background in SQL, Python and/or R, with proven expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and data visualisation.
  • Experience analysing large, complex, and sometimes conflicting datasets to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and, ideally, line manage or mentor team members.
  • Degree educated (or equivalent experience) in a relevant analytical field.
Desirable

Experience with Power BI, programme/project management (PRINCE2, Six Sigma, etc.), and prior line management responsibilities.
