IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is hiring a Senior Data Scientist in the Midlands region. You will design and deliver advanced AI and data science solutions for public sector and financial services clients, translating complex business problems into analytics use cases and leading end-to-end delivery.

You will apply ML techniques, AI frameworks, and large language model approaches while collaborating with data engineers and architects to ensure scalable, robust outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python with data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn).
• Experience applying machine learning or advanced analytics in a professional setting.
• Exposure to AI frameworks or techniques (TensorFlow, PyTorch, LLM APIs).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Solid data modelling and data quality practices; analytical best practices.
• Strong communication and problem solving to explain concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven end-to-end delivery of data-driven solutions in a consulting or commercial context.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of data science and AI solutions across client projects.
• Apply statistical modelling, ML, and analytics to structured and unstructured data.
• Deliver AI-enabled solutions using foundation models or LLMs where appropriate.
• Translate business problems into well-defined analytical use cases and designs.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development, validation, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with data engineers, platform teams, architects, and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior data scientists.
