Job summary

Bank of England in Leeds is seeking a Senior Data Scientist within Advanced Analytics to develop ML/AI solutions and prototype robustly. The role focuses on informing policy through cutting-edge data science.

The AA team applies generative AI, NLP, agent-based models and network analytics, encouraging collaborative problem solving and scalable deployments across the Bank's data platform.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of data science and statistical methods, including supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement and deep learning.
• Clear understanding of computational implications when scaling models with data engineers and technologists.
• Proficiency in Python and R and familiarity with respective libraries and packages.
• Ability to present complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Awareness of how advances in literature or other industries translate to Bank use-cases.
• Ability to drive reuse of models and code across the organisation.
• Experience building data science capabilities on Azure and Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively across the Bank to identify and deliver innovative capabilities that improve insight and decision accuracy.
• Keep up with state‑of‑the‑art developments in academia and industry and apply them on the job.
• Advise the directorate’s management on implementing a Bank‑wide AI strategy.
• Mentor and train less experienced staff in ML/AI without direct line management.
• Quality check outputs and ensure ethical, security, institutional and programming standards are met.
