Job description

To support our continued growth, we are looking to employ a Senior Data Scientist to join our consulting team.

You will lead the development of advanced data models, predictive analytics, and machine learning solutions to drive innovation within our platform. You will work closely with Data Analytics and BI, Data Engineering and Software Engineering, as well as working directly with customers and users.

This role requires a strategic mindset, strong technical expertise, and a commitment to leveraging data to make a positive impact on the social housing sector.

There will be opportunities to work on product development, as well as specific customer requirements as part of Lumensol’s consultancy services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering all fundamental aspects of being an employee of Lumensol, to include personal training and development, compliance with policies and procedures, upholding our values and contributing to our fantastic team culture
  • Ownership of the design, build, and delivery of our ML roadmap
  • Data wrangling, extraction, and pre-processing in SQL or Python
  • Conducting exploratory data analysis and communicating insights through clear descriptions and visualisation
  • Developing, testing, and implementing Machine Learning models
  • Conducting research on recent developments in Machine Learning and AI, with a focus on topics related to housing
  • Being a topic expert on Machine Learning and AI for the team, enabling strong project planning and shared understanding
  • Maintain documentation for sharing and collaboration
  • Maintain models and provide model performance data on a regular basis
  • Working closely with users and customers to deliver the user requirements
  • Support Lumensol customers, where appropriate, with AI and ML readiness and education
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Degree Level Education or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a commercial setting or in consulting
  • Proven experience of delivering business improvement for users/customers from model development
  • Experience with Machine Learning and statistical modelling techniques
  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python
  • Experience applying advanced analytics and Machine Learning to solve business problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to simply and concisely explain complex analytical topics
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and work effectively, utilising own initiative without high levels of supervision
  • Proactive in challenging existing processes and driving innovation
  • Social Housing / Local Authority experience

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with collaborative software tools
