About the job you're considering

Senior Data Science Developer - Stevenage/Hybrid

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team at the forefront of designing cutting-edge solutions in the Telco industry. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing advanced data science techniques to solve complex problems and drive innovation. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable data-driven solutions working with AI/ML teams.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including:

identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)

Your role

• Conduct extensive data exploration, analysis, and preprocessing to ensure data quality for AI/ML applications.
• Develop and apply data science methodologies to extract insights from large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
• Train, evaluate, and optimize AI/ML models using statistical techniques.
• Utilise predictive analytics, time series forecasting, and statistical models to drive business decision-making.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in data science technologies.
• Lead and mentor junior team members.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for AI/ML pipelines, data workflows, and analytical processes.

You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini building an inclusive future is part of everyday life and will be part of your working reality. We have built a representative and welcoming environment, for everyone.

Your skills and experience

• 5+ years of experience in data science.
• Experience with data science libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn).
• Proficiency in working with large datasets, data wrangling, and data preprocessing.
• Experience in data science, statistical modelling, and data analytics techniques.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau).
• Ability to work independently and lead projects from inception to deployment.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is desirable.
• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field is preferred.

Don't meet every single requirements? Studies have shown women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.

There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.

There are other criteria and checks required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
