Job summary

Domestic & General is hiring a Senior Data Protection Manager to join the Risk & Compliance team. The role oversees the data protection programme, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, DPA 2018 and PECR, while guiding privacy-by-design across projects and suppliers.

You will lead DPIAs, incidents and regulatory interactions, provide risk-based advice to businesses, and coach privacy teams to maintain high standards of governance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of UK GDPR, EU GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR/e-Privacy and related guidance.
• Experience managing privacy operations, DPIAs, incidents, DSRs and monitoring.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, risk-based advice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Qualified in data privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery of privacy operations, ensuring DPIAs, LIAs, DSRs, incidents and monitoring progress.
• Own the quality and consistency of privacy processes, templates, records and reporting inputs.
• Provide senior risk-based advice to business teams on projects, transfers and privacy-by-design.
• Lead operational privacy risk assessments and escalate material risks to the GDPO.
• Prepare and present management information, KRIs and compliance insights for oversight.
• Support the GDPO in regulatory enquiries and external engagements by coordinating inputs.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and QA to Analysts and colleagues.

We have an exciting opportunity for Senior Data Protection Manager to join our Risk & Compliance team here at Domestic & General. The role plays a pivotal role in overseeing the organisation’s data protection and privacy programme. It will also ensure compliance with relevant applicable data privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation and other data privacy regimes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery of assigned privacy operations, ensuring core records, DPIAs, LIAs, DSRs, incidents and compliance monitoring activity are progressed to agreed standards and escalated where required.
• Own the quality and consistency of assigned privacy processes, templates, records, reporting inputs and operational controls.
• Provide senior risk-based advice to business teams on projects, suppliers, contracts, international transfers and privacy-by-design requirements.
• Lead operational privacy risk assessment activity, agreeing actions within delegated authority and escalating material risks or decision points to the GDPO.
• Prepare and present management information, KRIs and compliance insights to support senior stakeholder and GDPO oversight.
• Support the GDPO in regulatory enquiries and external engagements by coordinating inputs, preparing draft responses and managing follow-up actions.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and quality assurance to Analysts and other colleagues supporting privacy activity.

Skills And Experience Required

• Strong knowledge of global applicable data privacy laws, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR/e-Privacy and relevant regulatory guidance.
• Proven experience managing day-to-day privacy operations, DPIAs, incidents, DSRs, compliance monitoring and regulatory interactions.
• Ability to interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical, risk-based business advice and operational controls.
• Excellent communication, influencing, stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Recognised data privacy qualification preferred, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, BCS Data Protection or equivalent.
