Job Description:

Hello! We're Teya.
Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance.

At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.
We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street. We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters. We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us.

Become a part of our story.
We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.

Job Description

As a Senior Data Privacy and Governance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our organisation's compliance with data privacy regulations and contribute to our data governance strategy. You will also advise on the implementation of AI-enabled technology.

Your Team

The Data Privacy and Governance team is dedicated to safeguarding personal data and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Our work spans Data Privacy, Data Management, Data Governance, and AI Governance. We collaborate with various departments to integrate privacy into all aspects of our operations, ensuring that data is handled responsibly and ethically. It also supports Teya’s strategic goals by providing expertise on data processing and technology including advice and guidance on the safe, efficient and effective implementation of technology, including AI systems.

We are a supportive and friendly team of three that takes pride in the quality of support that it provides to enable business objectives whilst managing associated risks. We are looking for a doer, someone who brings experience, a keenness to learn and develop, is comfortable working things out and enjoys solving problems that involve multiple disciplines.

Your Mission

You will support the Privacy Operations Lead in managing privacy operations, responding to privacy-related inquiries, and implementing privacy policies and procedures. Your work will help protect the privacy of our customers and employees, ensuring that our data practices are transparent and secure.

In addition, you will get involved with implementing an AI governance framework as well as configuring systems that we use to manage privacy workflows. Your day-to-day work will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, analysing data trends, and making recommendations to improve our privacy and governance practices.

On a day-to-day, you can expect to:

  • Run the day-to-day privacy processes such as RoPA, PIA, DSRs and supplier assessments.
  • Support the assessment and negotiation of Data Protection Agreements.
  • Administer systems that we use such as OneTrust and JIRA.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business on data protection, privacy by design and AI-related questions and risks.
  • Codify guidance and provide general and role-based training and awareness activities to develop understanding of privacy and AI literacy.
  • Identify efficiencies and opportunities to improve privacy operations and scaled processes.
  • Work closely with global cross-functional stakeholders to support team projects and goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Procurement, Security, Risk, Legal and Compliance to balance privacy and business objectives.
  • Conduct re-assessments of high and medium-risk personal data processing activities.
  • Support our Data Privacy Counsel with Privacy and wider digital trust related research.
Qualifications

Your Story

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in data privacy and/or data governance in an in-house role or in a consulting capacity.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify workflow improvements.
  • Experience working on cross-functional projects.
  • Experience suited to owning the development and improvement of frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to distil complex issues into guidance that is appropriate for the audience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of global privacy regulations and compliance standards.
  • A collaborative and team-focussed nature.
  • Demonstrable skills relating to process definition, design and implementation across people, process and technology.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with technologies such as OneTrust and JIRA.
  • Certification in privacy law or management (e.g., IAPP CIPP-EU, CIPM).
  • Certification in AI Governance (e.g. IAPP AIGP).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple requests with differing priorities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across business functions and work as part of diverse teams.
  • Experience in the technology or fintech industry.
  • Experience consistent with experience in consulting or an in-house role.
  • Experience of enabling high velocity in a heavily regulated environment.

We recognise that given the breadth and multi-disciplinary nature of the Data Privacy and AI Governance sphere, it is unlikely that a candidate will cover all the basic and preferred requirements. We are keen to hear from individuals who hold much of the experience with the interest and attitude to develop in other areas and will be able to complement and add to the current skills and experience we have in our team.

N.B. Although experience considering privacy-related legal matters may be beneficial, this position is not to fulfil a role as a data privacy legal counsel.
