Job summary

Nuvion Tech in the United Kingdom is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to provide senior technical leadership across a large-scale AWS data platform. You will own platform architecture, mentor engineers and drive DataOps practices.

You will collaborate with data, architecture and security teams to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions and translate business requirements into practical engineering designs.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills with optimization for very large datasets.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data warehouses and data lakes architectures.
• Experience with distributed processing technologies such as Spark.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps and DataOps practices.
• Experience setting engineering standards and improving code quality.
• Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working with exceptionally large datasets and complex data environments.
• Exposure to integration of legacy systems and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, operation and improvement of the AWS data platform.
• Oversee the delivery of complex batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Make architectural decisions around data models, storage and tooling.
• Improve platform resilience, scalability, performance and availability.
• Set coding, testing, monitoring and DataOps standards across the team.
• Mentor and support data engineers at different levels.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex data engineering issues.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security and QA teams.
