Job summary

Bloomberg is hiring a software engineer to build and maintain data pipelines for Macro business areas, from ingestion to downstream integration. You will own projects end-to-end, collaborate with data and infrastructure teams, and help drive platform reliability and performance.

The role emphasizes ownership, reusable tooling, and incremental delivery in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities to apply AI augmentation to data workflows.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines or ETL workflows.
• Strong backend experience with Python.
• Good system design and architecture skills.
• Experience working with large distributed systems.
• Experience with Kafka pipes.
• Experience with high-volume, scalable data pipelines.
• Experience with big data pipelines and stores.
• Understanding of CI principles and writing testable code.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects from design through delivery.
• Build robust, scalable data pipelines handling large data volumes.
• Identify recurring problems and build reusable solutions.
• Develop strong relationships with engineering peers, data teams, stakeholders.
• Champion engineering best practices with well-tested, maintainable code.
• Deliver incrementally in a fast-paced environment across workstreams.
