Job Description:

We wish to recruit an experienced Senior Data Manager to join the Cambridge-GSK Translational Immunology Collaboration (CG-TIC), a new partnership between the University of Cambridge and GSK. Focused on kidney and respiratory diseases, the collaboration leverages the world-class capabilities of Cambridge University to provide transformational impact for patients, while aligning with GSK R&D strategic priorities. The CG-TIC Senior Data Manager will oversee data management and research software solutions for curating, managing, and analyzing data generated and accessed by CG-TIC researchers. Data includes pseudonymized clinical metadata and genomic experimental data, integrated and analyzed through platforms like the Cambridge Centre for Data Driven Discovery (C3D3) and the Secure Research Computing Platform (SRCP).

Who you'll be working with

This role is based in the Department of Medicine, collaborating with researchers at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology & Infectious Disease (CITIID) and the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute (HLRI), part of CG-TIC. You will liaise with colleagues in the University Information Service and GSK partners. You will oversee a data administrator and support colleagues across CG-TIC in managing complex datasets.

What you will do

You will work on diverse projects integrating clinical and experimental data, making tools accessible, facilitating analysis, and expanding platforms. You should be capable of engaging users, adapting your approach to project and stakeholder needs, and working with advanced tools and hardware. Building relationships and influencing stakeholders are key. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

What you will have

  • Experience in writing and maintaining high-performance application code in languages such as C, C++, Fortran, or Python.
  • Experience with frameworks like MPI, OpenMP, or CUDA for large parallel computing.
  • Knowledge of modern supercomputer hardware (CPUs, GPUs, interconnects) and Linux environment.
  • Interest or experience in machine learning and data science.

We support flexible working and are open to part-time applications and candidates outside Cambridge willing to travel. Informal inquiries are encouraged: contact Dr. Nicholas Horrocks, Programme Manager, CG-TIC.

Funding for this fixed-term role (2 years) is available initially. Successful candidates will need to undergo a criminal records check. The closing date for applications is 17th November 2024; interview date to be confirmed. The University promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion, and ensures candidates are eligible to work in the UK.
