Bloomberg relies on data, and our Data department is responsible for acquiring, interpreting, and providing data insights to our clients. Our Data teams collect, analyze, process, and publish data that forms the backbone of our Bloomberg Terminal, which influences financial markets worldwide. We deliver this data, along with news and analytics, through innovative technology that emphasizes speed and accuracy.

The Data Management Lab (DML), part of the Data organization, supports excellence in data management by aligning industry best practices with Bloomberg's expertise in financial market data. DML helps data professionals make their products 'ready-to-use' by enhancing data discoverability, accessibility, appraisability, interoperability, and analysis-readiness.

As a Data Management Professional, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality data to clients and support impactful business decisions. You will be part of a collaborative team within the Quality Methods & Insights group under DML, which includes Data Quality, Business Intelligence, and Process Engineering, serving as a center of excellence. Your role involves leading initiatives to improve dataset quality, partnering with Data product and Engineering teams, and developing scalable methods for analyzing product, process, and people data. Your insights will support data-driven decisions, quality improvements, and process optimizations. You will also help refine data management best practices.

As a valued team member, you will:

  • Lead global initiatives on data science applications in data quality, product development, and operational efficiency
  • Design and conduct studies to identify root causes of data quality issues using techniques like hypothesis testing, clustering, and regression analysis
  • Create statistical models to detect anomalies, predict quality issues, and optimize data pipelines
  • Provide actionable insights through advanced analytics and compelling data storytelling to support decision-making and innovation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to develop scalable data science solutions
  • Build team capabilities and mentor others in modeling and experimentation best practices

Qualifications include:

  • A PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of experience in research design, data profiling, predictive modeling, and causal analysis
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and collaborative workflows such as GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience in data quality, governance, or management environments is a plus (knowledge of DAMA, DCAM, etc.)
  • Excellent project management and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
