Job summary

Atom Learning is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape the data platform for our learning products in a remote-first, UK-wide role. You will own data pipelines, modelling, and AI-assisted tooling to enable better outcomes for learners and teachers alike.

You'll work with engineers, product managers and education experts to turn complex data problems into reusable solutions, ensuring high data quality and observability across the platform.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing, building, maintaining and scaling production data pipelines and platforms.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with clear, maintainable code.
• Understanding of data modelling, database architecture and trade-offs for reliable, scalable data systems.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses, orchestration tools and transformation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the data foundations behind customer-facing products, including predictive features and insights.
• Own the design, development and ongoing improvement of reliable, scalable data pipelines and models.
• Shape the technical direction of the data platform and improve data movement between application, warehouse and surfaces.
• Create clean, well-tested, reusable solutions using Python, SQL and dbt.
• Improve data quality, observability and reliability for trusted data across teams.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, commercial teams and education experts to understand problems and measure impact.
• Develop tooling and patterns to enable self-serve data safely and confidently.
