Job summary

Canopius is building a modern data ecosystem in Manchester. You will lead data engineering across Azure and Databricks, delivering scalable pipelines, governance and analytics foundations.

The role includes line management of two junior engineers and a mid-level data engineer, mentoring peers, and driving best practices in an agile environment. Enjoy a hybrid setup with 2–3 days in the new Manchester office.

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Strong Python (PySpark) and SQL for transformations at scale.
• Hands-on Databricks and Delta Lake with lakehouse architecture.
• Experience with Azure storage, data governance, and security practices.
• Leading or mentoring engineers in agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across data engineering initiatives.
• Design scalable, secure data pipelines with monitoring and logging.
• Migrate legacy processes to a cloud-native data ecosystem.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Solution Architects on roadmaps.
• Line manage junior and mid-level data engineers; mentor peers.
