Job summary

Marks & Spencer is seeking a data engineering professional to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines that support data science workflows. You will manage Airflow orchestration, work hands-on with Databricks, and contribute to engineering standards through GitHub collaboration.

Ideal candidates will have strong data engineering experience, the ability to own delivery, and a proactive, collaborative approach to cross-team work, including exposure to MLOps concepts.

What You’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include

• Design, build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines that support data science workflows and advanced analytics use cases
• Develop and manage complex Airflow orchestration, ensuring pipelines are reliable, observable and maintainable
• Work hands-on with Databricks suite to deliver high-quality data engineering solutions for data science teams
• Contribute to collaborative development through GitHub, code reviews and shared engineering standards
• Work effectively in feature-led environments, supporting repeatable, controlled and high-quality delivery

Your skills and experience will include

• Strong data engineering experience, with the ability to work independently, take ownership, and be accountable for delivery outcomes.
• Experience supporting data science workflows and partnering closely with data scientists to enable successful delivery.
• Clear and effective communicator who collaborates well across teams and contributes positively to shared outcomes.
• Proactive problem solver who focuses on root-cause analysis, resolution, and the identification of practical, effective solutions.
• Adaptable, curious, and committed to continuous learning in changing environments, with desirable exposure to MLOps concepts and tooling and an understanding of how data engineering supports data science delivery.
