Job summary

Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design and deliver end-to-end data solutions for a leading defence organisation. You will build scalable batch and streaming pipelines, develop data lakes and analytics platforms, and create Power BI reporting for diverse users.

This permanent role requires strong Python and SQL, experience with ETL/ELT tools, and the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders while supporting hybrid on-site and remote work

• Proven data engineering experience within defence, aerospace, manufacturing or another complex industrial environment.
• Strong Python and SQL expertise.
• Experience building ETL or ELT data pipelines and modern data platforms.
• Comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business areas.

Job description

Take ownership of enterprise scale data platforms that support complex engineering and operational environments. This role offers the chance to shape data strategy, influence technical direction and build solutions that create long term value across a leading defence environment. As your expertise grows, there is genuine scope to expand your influence across multiple business functions.

• British Citizen able to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance
• Proven data engineering experience within defence, aerospace, manufacturing or another complex industrial environment
• Strong Python and SQL expertise
• Experience building ETL or ELT data pipelines and modern data platforms
• Comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business areas

Salary and rewards

Circa £55,000 plus annual performance bonus of up to £2,500.

Your role

Your experience

• Strong background in data engineering and enterprise data architecture
• Experience with ETL and ELT tools alongside streaming technologies such as Spark or Kafka
• Knowledge of relational and cloud data platforms including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Snowflake or similar technologies
• Experience with Power BI and data visualisation best practice
• Familiarity with DevOps or DataOps approaches including Git, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
