This role can be based at any of our office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow.
At ORR we have adopted hybrid working and are currently expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%.
The Information and Analysis (I&A) team comprises of statisticians and business intelligence staff responsible for the data collection, analysis and publication of official statistics for the rail industry.
The Information and Analysis (I&A) team is responsible for data engineering and governance, publishing official statistics on rail and providing analytical support to policy teams across ORR to support monitoring of Network Rail, HS1, train operators, and other duty/licence holders.

Working in a diverse and friendly team, your data engineering expertise will put you at the forefront of our exciting plans for teams across ORR get the most out of their data. Working in collaboration with data owners and data suppliers, you will support the re-design of our data collection processes and develop tools to support policy and operational colleagues make decisions that have a real impact on the running of Britain’s railways.
You will work with a team of data engineers, statisticians, analysts and a wide range of internal stakeholders to transform our outputs by creating and implementing efficient, automated data processes. You will work collaboratively with counterparts across our regulated industries and have the opportunity to represent ORR on cross-government data networks.
This job provides you with the opportunity to not only learn about the breadth and depth of work involved in a regulatory environment but also how we combine that with our role as publisher of official statistics on rail.
