Job summary

EDF Energy is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in the Finance Data Squad to lead delivery of data products underpinning financial systems. You will mentor engineers, shape engineering standards, and drive modern data capabilities across ingestion, modeling, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or mentoring engineers within agile delivery environments.
• Strong experience designing end-to-end data solutions from ingestion to analytics.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and modern data warehousing technologies, including Snowflake.
• Experience with data engineering tooling such as Python, DBT, CI/CD pipelines, and testing.
• Strong data modelling and ETL knowledge; experience with large enterprise datasets.
• Ability to influence technical decisions and promote best practices.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Data Engineer within the Finance Data Squad, you'll lead the delivery of data products that underpin key financial systems and insights. Your work will directly support business performance, helping Finance make better decisions through high-quality, scalable data solutions.
Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this role is flexible with occasional travel to our #Exeter or #London offices. You'll benefit from a hybrid approach that supports both focused work and collaborative team engagement.

You'll work across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and modelling through to reporting and insight generation, while helping to shape engineering standards, tooling choices and ways of working. Working with large and complex datasets, you'll play a key role in modernising how Finance uses data and analytics to drive business outcomes.

Who You Are

• Experience leading or mentoring engineers within agile delivery environments
• Strong experience designing and delivering end-to-end data solutions, from ingestion and transformation through to reporting and analytics
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and modern data warehousing technologies, ideally including Snowflake
• Experience with data engineering and automation tooling such as Python, DBT, CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks
• Strong understanding of data modelling, data integration and ETL processes
• Experience working with large and complex datasets within enterprise environments
• Ability to influence technical decisions and promote engineering best practice
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
