Job summary

LA International in London seeks a Senior Data Engineer for a 6-month contract on a hybrid model (3 days on-site per week). The role will drive enterprise data architecture across insurance functions, leveraging AWS, Databricks, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB to deliver data warehouses, lakes, and lakehouses for analytics and regulatory needs.

You will lead modeling with Sparx EA and Erwin, govern data standards, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data

Qualifications

• Insurance domain experience is required.
• Experience with AWS, Databricks and SQL databases.
• Ability to design canonical data models and reference architectures.
• Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses.
• Leadership in governance and Agile delivery with stakeholder management.

• Lead enterprise data architecture initiatives across insurance functions.

• Define end-to-end data architectures leveraging AWS, Databricks, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Develop data models using Sparx EA and Erwin to support business transformation.
• Design and govern data warehouse, data lake, and lakehouse architectures for reporting, AI/ML, and compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable technology solutions.

6 Month contract initially + Extensions

Rate - £400 - £500 p/d via Umbrella

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead enterprise-wide data architecture initiatives for Insurance business functions, ensuring alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and organizational data standards.
• Design and maintain canonical data models, enterprise data standards, and reference architectures to promote consistency, interoperability, and reusability across platforms.
• Define and implement end-to-end data architecture solutions leveraging AWS, Databricks, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud-native data services.
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using Sparx EA, Erwin, and industry best practices to support business transformation initiatives.
• Design and govern data warehouse, data lake, and lakehouse architectures to support reporting, analytics, AI/ML, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, and development teams to define data requirements and translate them into scalable technology solutions.

• Integration & Processing: ETL/ELT (Informatica), API design, data pipelines, Kafka, MQ, Postman
• Governance & Leadership: Enterprise governance, reference architecture, Agile delivery, steering committees, stakeholder and relationship management, leading multi-disciplinary teams.
