Job Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the installation (rack, stack, and cabling), configuration, and deployment of data center equipment deployed to Fastly data centers worldwide.
  2. Assist in training new hires and mentoring existing team members in current and new skill development.
  3. Order and handle cross-connect circuit installs/de-installs, configure BGP, and update internal circuit records.
  4. Organize and prioritize daily workload using the JIRA issue tracker.
  5. Write and publish SOW / SOP for internal Fastly documentation for DCI and other Fastly teams.
  6. Ensure hardware is onsite to enable team productivity; work with Procurement to resolve logistic issues impacting timelines.
  7. Guide remote hands personnel and third-party vendors for tasks such as POP deployments, hardware replacements, cable installations, and troubleshooting.
  8. Collaborate with Datacenter Engineers, supporting complex problems as a middle point of escalation.
  9. Participate in Fastly’s on-call pager rotation.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years supporting data center operations at an ISP, hosting provider, or similar.
  • Experience with DWDM architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of power and network cabling standards (NEMA, IEC, ANSI/TIA); skills in crimping copper patch cords and troubleshooting fiber optic cabling.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors for PoP installations and hardware repairs.
  • Proficient in Linux.
  • Experience with hardware from Hyve, HPE, Dell, Arista, Ciena, Cisco.
  • Proven data center engineering experience with rotations and 24/7 operations.
  • Ability to read/write installation documentation (documents/drawings/spreadsheets).
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and ability to document them.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment.
  • Flexibility to work days/nights/weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.
Preferred Skills

Knowledge of Bash or Python scripting languages.

Work Location & Travel

Remote, UK, preferably London area. Travel as required by role or manager's request.

Compensation

Salary range of £85,000 - £105,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
