Job summary

SR2 REC LTD is partnering with an organisation investing in its Data & AI capability. They seek an experienced Senior Data Business Analyst to shape and deliver enterprise data solutions in a hands-on contract.

The role requires a data-focused BA who can translate business problems into data requirements, work with Data Architects/Engineers and deliver KPI definitions, data lineage and governance. Hybrid work: 1-2 days on site, London or Basingstoke.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering data, reporting or analytics programmes.
• Strong SQL skills for analysis, profiling and validation.
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Azure Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric.
• Knowledge of GDPR and wider data management principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery across complex data, reporting, analytics and AI initiatives.
• Translate business problems into clear, actionable data requirements.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Engineers, Analytics, AI, Product Owners and Delivery teams.
• Define business rules, KPI definitions, data requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Analyse data lineage, source-to-target mappings and information flows.
• Produce conceptual and logical data requirements/models.
• Use SQL to interrogate and profile data, validate requirements and investigate data quality.
• Support data governance, metadata, business glossaries and critical data definitions.
• Identify data quality issues and help establish trusted business information.
• Lead workshops, stakeholder interviews and requirements elicitation.
• Create and manage epics, user stories, process models and requirements traceability.
• Support backlog refinement, story mapping, UAT and business readiness.

£400 per day | Outside IR35 | ASAP - end of January | Basingstoke or London | Hybrid 1-2 days per week

SR2 is partnering with an exciting organisation undergoing significant investment in its Data & AI capability. We're looking for an experienced Senior Data Business Analyst who can quickly get up to speed and help shape and deliver enterprise data solutions.

This is a hands‑on contract for someone who understands data, not simply a generalist BA who has occasionally worked on a data project.

• Rate: £400 per day, all inclusive
• IR35: Outside IR35
• Start: ASAP
• Initial term: Until the end of January, with potential to extend
• Location: Basingstoke or London
• Hybrid: 1-2 days per week on site

What you’ll be doing

• Lead discovery across complex data, reporting, analytics and AI initiatives

• Work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, Analytics, AI, Product Owners and Delivery teams
• Define business rules, KPI definitions, data requirements and acceptance criteria

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience as a Senior Data Business Analyst / Data Business Analyst
• Demonstrable delivery across complex data, reporting or analytics programmes
• Strong SQL skills for analysis, profiling and validation
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Azure Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric
• Good understanding of data governance, data quality, data modelling, data lineage and data architecture
• Experience defining KPIs, business rules and reporting/analytics requirements
• Strong Agile delivery experience, including epics, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to bridge the gap between senior business stakeholders and technical data teams
• Financial Services or Insurance experience would be beneficial
• Understanding of GDPR and wider data management principles
