Job summary

Tesco Mobile is seeking a Data Business Analyst to analyse and document business requirements, user stories and data flows for data platform and reporting solutions. You will collaborate with Product Owners, Tribe Leads and stakeholders to ensure clear, prioritised delivery across complex initiatives and mentor junior team members.

• 3+ years of Business Analysis experience, preferably in agile or hybrid delivery environments.
• Apply agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or LeSS to support effective delivery.
• Utilise strong analytical, business analysis, and process design skills to identify and deliver business value.
• Model and map complex data flows to show data movement and dependencies.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary link between the Data Tribe and stakeholders across Tesco Mobile.
• Scope initiatives, features, and enhancements across Data Platforms, Power BI, Insight & Analytics, Data Science, and Marketing Platforms.
• Translate business requirements into data requirements for the Data Platforms squad.
• Elicit and refine requirements with stakeholders to identify data, insight, and analytics needs.
• Collaborate with delivery squads to ensure aligned, integrated solutions delivering maximum business value.
• Partner with Data Product Owners and delivery teams to provide information and clarity for feature delivery.
• Ensure traceability between business requirements, solutions, and Objectives & Key Results (OKRs).
• Define and support process improvements and operating model changes for new data capabilities.
• Work with Data Architects to align with Tesco Mobile data architecture principles and standards.
• Challenge stakeholder requirements to ensure alignment with priorities and agile principles.
• Demonstrate completed features to stakeholders and gather feedback.
• Support Tesco Mobile Business Analysis community by improving quality and consistency of data/analytics requirements.
• Foster collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure shared understanding.

As a Data Business Analyst within the Tesco Mobile Agile Tribe, you will analyse and document business requirements, user stories and data flows to support data platform and reporting solutions. Working closely with Product Owners, Tribe Leads and stakeholders, you will ensure requirements are clearly defined, prioritised and delivered effectively across complex initiatives. You will build strong cross-functional relationships, provide expert data analysis, and support the development of junior team members through coaching and mentoring.

• Acting as the primary link between the Data Tribe and stakeholders across the wider Tesco Mobile business.
• Scoping initiatives, features, and enhancements impacting Data Tribe squads, including Data Platforms, Power BI, Insight & Analytics, Data Science, and Marketing Platforms.
• Translating business requirements into clear, actionable data requirements for the Data Platforms squad, enabling the delivery of capabilities that support key business outcomes.
• Eliciting, gathering, and refining requirements with stakeholders across Product Tribes, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and business functions to identify data, insight, and analytics needs.
• Collaborating with delivery squads to ensuring feature requirements and solutions are aligned, integrated, and deliver maximum business value.
• Partnering with Data Product Owners and delivery teams to providing the information and clarity required for successful feature delivery.
• Ensuring full traceability between business requirements, delivered solutions, and organisational Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
• Defining and supporting business process improvements and operating model changes required to enable new data capabilities.
• Working closely with Data Architects to ensuring solutions align with Tesco Mobile's data architecture principles, standards, and strategic direction.
• Challenging stakeholder requirements and proposed initiatives to ensuring alignment with business priorities, agile principles, and strategic objectives.
• Demonstrating completed features to stakeholders, gathering feedback, and securing business acceptance.
• Supporting and influencing the wider Tesco Mobile Business Analysis community by improving the quality and consistency of requirements relating to data, insight, and analytics capabilities.
• Facilitating collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding of requirements, dependencies, risks, and delivery outcomes.

• Demonstrating three or more years of Business Analysis experience, preferably within agile or hybrid delivery environments.
• Applying agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or LeSS to support effective delivery and continuous improvement.
• Utilising strong analytical, business analysis, and process design skills to identify and deliver business value.
• Streamlining and optimising business processes through process mapping, modelling, and continuous improvement techniques.
• Managing and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, while gathering requirements, setting priorities, and resolving issues.
• Understanding and modelling complex data flows, ensuring clear visibility of data movement and dependencies.
• Applying knowledge of data platforms, data management principles, and industry best practices.
• Bridging the gap between technical data teams and business stakeholders through clear and effective communication.
• Evaluating outcomes, reflecting constructively on work delivered, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Producing high-quality documentation, presentations, and analysis using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Utilising business process modelling and data modelling tools to capture and communicate requirements effectively.
