A member-owned cooperative society in Lichfield is seeking a Senior Data and BI Manager to lead strategic BI/data projects and manage the Azure data platform. This role involves mentoring a team, overseeing data integrations, and ensuring day-to-day operations align with business intelligence goals. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure technologies and proven leadership in data engineering.
Joining us as Senior Data and BI Manager, you'll manage and deliver strategic BI/data projects, driving our data and BI capability. You'll also ensure the successful day-to-day operation of the data platform and support intelligence utilization.
You'll have the opportunity to lead and influence the direction of data, intelligence and reporting across our business. You'll be making a significant positive impact through your development and delivery of clear plans in partnership with our leadership teams.
As part of your role, you'll oversee upgrades and integration of new data sources into our Azure-based data ecosystem. You'll champion Microsoft Fabric, ensuring the team maximises platform capabilities to support analytics and reporting.
You'll be managing the Azure data platform budget, ensuring value for money across compute, storage and licensing.
Utilising your skills and expertise, you'll act as a role model for data stewardship, guardianship and ownership, as well as acting as the subject matter expert on Azure, Fabric, BI and supporting reporting platforms.
Leading, supporting and encouraging your team, you'll manage their day-to-day workload, mentor and upskill individuals across various skill levels.
Working collaboratively is key to success in this role, and you'll be acting as key stakeholder in our data and intelligence strategy, working closely with senior leaders across IT and the wider business.
This role would suit someone who has proven leadership in BI/reporting and/or data engineering roles with direct team management.
You'll be a confident decision maker, with excellent project delivery skills, as well as able to manage large-scale data platform transitions.
We are looking for someone who has Azure and Microsoft Fabric certifications.
You'll bring expertise in Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric in addition to your in-depth knowledge of ELT pipelines, CI/CD (Azure DevOps) and data architecture.
You'll be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Data & BI models, implementation strategies and business engagement processes.
Communication and collaborative working will be key to your success in this role and will therefore require excellent communication skills.
Leading your team and strategy independently is critical to this role. You'll be able to provide support, mentorship and coaching, and share a passion for team development and progression.
